The Civil Police of São Paulo requested on Thursday, 2, the temporary arrest of the suspect of shooting Lieutenant Ronickson Pimentel dos Santos, from Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (Rota), last Saturday, 27, in São Caetano do Sul, in ABC Paulista.

The information was confirmed to Estadão by the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves.

The man had already been identified on Tuesday, 30, by the State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), responsible for investigating the case.

On the same day, the police also located the white Renault Logan used by the criminals. The vehicle, which had been traveling through São Caetano since February, was on land in Jardim Guaianases, in the east zone of São Paulo, covered by a gray layer.

Two other suspects, aged 40 and 52, were temporarily arrested on Sunday, the 28th. They were also located in Guaianases and are being investigated for providing logistical cover for the crime.

On Wednesday, 1st, a man died in an alleged exchange of gunfire with Rota police officers, in Guaianases. According to the corporation, the agents went to the location to investigate a report about a suspect involved in the attack on Ronickson, but they claim they were received by gunfire and reacted. The man was shot and died.

On Thursday, the SSP reported that he had no connection with the attempted murder against the lieutenant.

Since the day of the crime, Ronickson has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Mário Covas State Hospital, in Santo André. According to the latest bulletin released by Rota on Thursday, the lieutenant remains in serious condition, but is responding well to treatment and progressing as expected.

According to the corporation, he maintains clinical stability, without fever, with preserved kidney function and a positive response to the antibiotics used to treat a pulmonary condition. The medical team evaluates starting to reduce sedation between seven and ten days after the trauma, if no new complications occur.

Ronickson was shot Saturday morning while stopped at a traffic light. He is the older brother of Eloá Pimentel, murdered in the longest kidnapping in the history of São Paulo, in October 2008.
